Visitation of Deakin University, School of Life and Environmental Sciences to i3L Campus
Tuesday, July 22, 2025 — i3L was honored to welcome the team of representatives from Deakin University, School of Life and Environmental Sciences led by Assoc Prof. Craig Sherman. The meeting was attended by key representatives from i3L, including Dr. oec. troph. Hanny Angrainy, B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc. (Head of the Food Technology Department); Dr. Dina Hermawaty, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Head of the Biotechnology Department); Dr. apt. Fandi Sutanto, S.Farm., M.Si., Ph.D. (Head of the Pharmacy Department); Widya Indriani, S.T.P., M.Sc (Med.Sci.) (Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition Department); Fadillah Putri Patria from the LPPM Research Department; and both i3L International officers.
Representing Deakin University’s School of Life and Environmental Sciences were Associate Professor Craig Sherman (Associate Head of School), Samantha Sherman (Senior Lecturer in Fisheries), Professor Colin Barrow (Chair in Biotechnology and Director of the Centre for Chemistry and Biotechnology), Professor Marcel Klaassen (Chair in Ecology), Sebastian Gunawan (Partnership Coordinator, Deakin International), and Bima Fitriandana (Research Partnership Manager, Office of Research and Innovation).
The discussion focused on sharing and highlighting the ongoing research projects in each department. It also covers potential collaborations in joint supervision and research between the students and faculties. With a strong commitment to science and innovation, i3L is actively pursuing strategic global partnerships that offer students access to high-quality research opportunities and international academic exposure.
After the insightful discussions, the representatives from Deakin University were provided the campus tour to exhibit i3L’s learning environment highlighting various vital facilities for school of life sciences activities such as laboratories.
i3L and Deakin themselves have a long-standing partnership with each other since 2015, collaborating in establishing joint programs and activities. With this visitation, the two institutions look forward to expanding and deepening their partnership with new collaborative prospects especially in research.
