Taylor’s University Visitation to i3L Campus
Thursday, May 22, 2025 — i3L had the honour of hosting representatives from Taylor’s University, Dr. Yap Wei Hsum (Director of the Biotechnology Programme) and Dr. Phelim Yong Voon Chen (Head of the School of Biosciences), to explore potential opportunities for academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting was attended by several key figures from i3L, including Dr. Rio Hermantara, S.Si., M. Biotech., Ph.D. (Dean of the School of Life Sciences), Dr. oec. troph. Hanny Angrainy, B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc. (Head of Food Technology), Dr. Dina Hermawaty, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Head of Biotechnology), Dr. Wided Kouidhi, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Biomedicine Faculty Member), Ananditya Nugraha, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Food Technology Faculty Member), Widya Indriani, S.T.P., M.Sc. (Med.Sci.) (Food Science and Nutrition Faculty Member), Livia Janica, S.T.P., M.Res. (Food Science and Nutrition Faculty Member), Givens Pratiwi Manurung (LPPM), along with representatives from the International Office – moderated by Alisha T.M Nasier (Head of International Office).
The dialogue centred on various academic initiatives, including Taylor’s University’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Biosciences, potential postgraduate progression pathways, opportunities for international internships, thesis placements, and both academic and student exchange programmes.
Taylor’s commitment to nurturing scholars who are also innovators, leaders, and changemakers aligns closely with i3L’s emphasis on science and innovation, positioning the two institutions as promising partners in advancing high-quality research and educational activities in areas such as sustainability and the food sciences.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of token of appreciation to symbolise mutual gratitude, then followed by a guided campus tour for Dr. Yap Wei Hsum and Dr. Phelim Yong Voon Chen conducted by International Office representatives Alisha T.M Nasier, Vania Amelia, and Marchia Rumkorem. The tour provided an overview of i3L’s academic standards, learning environment, and supporting facilities such as the laboratories and library—further strengthening the foundation for future collaboration in research and education.
