i3L School of Business and Management Visits PT Amerta Indah Otsuka: Bridging Theory and Practice

Jakarta, 23 January 2026 – Connecting what students learn in class with real-world industry experience is essential for a top business education. Recently, students and faculty members from the i3L University, School of Business Management, visited PT. Amerta Indah Otsuka in Sukabumi to gain hands-on insights.

Otsuka, recognized for its strong focus on quality and health, gave our students a chance to see large-scale operations and brand management up close.

An Immersive Look into Global Manufacturing Standards

The visit, which commenced at 13:30, was designed to give students a 360-degree view of how a multinational corporation maintains its competitive edge in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector.

1. Digital Literacy and Brand Storytelling

The session opened with a deep dive into Otsuka’s corporate philosophy. Through a series of introductory and educational videos, students explored the science behind iconic products like Pocari Sweat. This provided a practical look at how health-based value propositions are communicated to a global audience, a key component of the i3L University’s International Business Management (IBM) curriculum.

2. Interactive Engagement and Gamification

To test their observational skills, students participated in an interactive digital quiz. Utilizing Otsuka’s proprietary gaming system, this session makes use of the “gamification” trends and challenges students to think quickly under pressure.

3. Behind the Scenes: The Factory Tour

The highlight of the day was the comprehensive factory tour of the Pocari Sweat and Oronamin C production lines. Students observed firsthand the intricacies of:

  • Vertical Integration: Seeing how the majority of components are manufactured in-house.
  • Supply Chain Nuance: Understanding the strategic decision to source specific components, such as Oronamin C bottles and caps, from specialized third-party suppliers.
  • Quality Control: Watching the journey from the molding of the bottle to the final sealing of the drink.

Conclusion

The visit ended with a stop at the merchandise shop and a group photo, marking a day of real professional growth. By seeing how a product goes from a resin preform to a bottle of Pocari Sweat on the shelf, i3L students gained valuable experience to help them succeed in today’s complex global market.
