At i3L, the discussions on food, nutrition and human health intertwine and are delivered from the molecular level up to population and global levels; from the chemistry, microbiology, safety, and processing aspects of food up to its functionality on gene and cell levels; its use for human digestion and metabolism, its effects on human health at individual and population levels, as well as its impact on the on society and the environment.

The Food Science and Nutrition study program aims to meet the increasing demand for nutritious foods to improve health and well-being. Students study using a robust curriculum which consists of the essential aspects of the science of food and nutrition, both in class and during laboratory practical sessions. Students also have a lot of opportunities to explore their research interests through various science competitions. i3L’s broad network of food industries, universities and research institutions across the globe will assure the students to have suitable internship and thesis placements. Graduates with solid knowledge and skills on food science and nutrition are highly-valuable and are among those of highly sought after by the food industry focusing on healthy functions of food.

Congratulations to Rosalind Vivia Tansy, Chika Hasya Putri and Livia Janica, our Food Science and Nutrition cohort 2015 students, for winning the first place at Innofiber Product Development Competition: a collaborative platform for dietary fiber in Indonesia.
Master in Biomanagement (MBM) Acceleration Program is a Special Program designed for i3L & iSB students. By joining this program, the student can finish their Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree (S1 & S2) in just 5 years.
If you are a current i3L or iSB student, then you can enroll in MBM Acceleration Program in the 6th semester and start in the 7th semester.
My interest in food science and nutrition had led me to choose i3L as my starting place to grow. Here in i3L, I have gained valuable experiences, memorable life stories and amazing friendships which surpassed my expectation. i3L offered numerous opportunities, facilities and qualified lecturers who are passionate in their fields yet are also friendly and very caring for us students. All in all, i3L had nurtured me in developing a character with high independence and integrity besides providing fruitful knowledge along the way, which support my career path after graduating.
It has been a wonderful experience studying at i3L. I had a great time both in academic and non-academic events. Friendly and brilliant lecturers, fun environment, and high level of knowledge, what else am I looking for? I have been provided with knowledge and skills to face the world.
Being an i3L student was not always easy but definitely worth the amazing experience. The warm environment of the campus makes it trully feel like a second home. The relationship between faculty members and students are very cordial, which gave me the opportunity to excel in my area of interest and to grow better proffesionally as well as individually. During my years at i3L, I was given the chance to experience international exposure through being one of the poster presenters at the biggest food science and technology conference in Chicago, IL, as well as through a summer internship at Ehime University, Japan and UCSI University, Malaysia. It was such an honor for me to study at i3L as it provided me with experiences which are quite hard to get in other places. I never thought that learning at i3L would help me so much to grow my food and beverage business with my colleague. Thank you i3L for the incredible journey.
Here at i3L, the courses are designed to give us both practical and theoretical skills. Last summer, I had the opportunity to do a project in the University of the Aegean, Myrina, Greece. There, I learned how to use one of the most recent technologies on sensory evaluation. It was such an amazing experience. Thank you i3L for the opportunity!
