i3L University Students Shine at ONMIPA 2025: Jordan Secures Silver Medal in Biology

Jakarta, 26 November 2025 –  i3L University announces the outstanding achievements of its students at the Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (ONMIPA) 2025. Three students represented the university in the highly competitive National Olympiad, earning prestigious accolades and highlighting the institution’s excellence in the life sciences.

Jordan Ariel Indarta (Biomedicine 2024) was awarded the Silver Medal in Biology. Theodosius Hose Anderson (Biomedicine 2024) received an Honorable Mention, and Nelvina Farelia Sulaiman (Biotechnology 2023) represented the university as a finalist.

Jordan Ariel Indarta: The Strategy Behind the Silver Medal

Jordan’s success in securing the Silver Medal was driven by a rigorous and strategic preparation process. A student of the Biomedicine 2024 cohort, Jordan recognized early on that success in ONMIPA required going beyond the standard university curriculum.

“Personally, I mainly studied for the syllabus that is not taught in Biomedicine, such as ecology, behavior, and cladistics,” Jordan explained regarding his preparation. For other foundational topics, he relied on his i3L course materials and his prior high school experience.

Jordan also highlighted the importance of high-quality resources for students aiming to compete in future Olympiads. Noting that, because ONMIPA is heavily based on memory and prior knowledge, selecting appropriate reading material is crucial.

A Strong Showing from the i3L Team

The university’s success at ONMIPA 2025 was a collective achievement. Theodosius Hose Anderson (Biomedicine 2024) received an Honorable Mention for his innovative study methods. Instead of relying solely on textbooks, Theodosius used science media, such as PBS Eons, pop-science books, and past exam questions.

Theodosius emphasized the psychological aspect of competing. “I think an overlooked aspect is having good morale,” he stated. “Having a good support system, either from home or on-site, really gives you the morale boost to persist through the competitions.”

Nelvina Farelia Sulaiman (Biotechnology 2023) prepared by analyzing the exam format and practicing with previous questions. She also used digital resources such as YouTube and Google to familiarize herself with the Olympiad. Her advice to juniors is practical: “Ensure your core theories and concepts are solid, then practice past questions to see how those concepts are applied.”

Institutional Support Paving the Way

All three students identified i3L University’s strong support system as essential to their participation. The university offered:

  • Academic Support: Lecturers clarified complex topics, and the university supplied example questions to simulate the exam environment.
  • Logistical Support: i3L managed and covered registration, transportation, hotel, and accommodation expenses, enabling students to focus fully on the competition.
  • Administrative Aid: i3L coordinated registration and kept students informed of syllabus changes.

i3L University congratulates Jordan, Theodosius, and Nelvina for their dedication and for representing the institution nationally. Their achievements at ONMIPA 2025 inspire the entire academic community.
