Research Interest
Biography
Farras was born and completed his education through high school in Bandung, Indonesia. He subsequently moved to Semarang to pursue his undergraduate studies in the Department of Biology at Diponegoro University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2019. During his undergraduate studies, he undertook an internship in Thailand in 2018 at BIOTEC-NSTDA and Mahidol University, where he investigated the potential of endophytic fungi against Vibrio infections in shrimp. This research formed the basis of his undergraduate thesis and was subsequently published in a peer-reviewed journal.
In 2020, Farras pursued a master’s degree at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, where he studied the use of probiotic bacteria to alleviate columnaris disease in a Nile tilapia model. His master’s research was supported by the 90th Anniversary of Chulalongkorn University Fund and the ASEAN Scholarship. He completed his master’s degree in 2022.
In early 2023, Farras began his Ph.D. at the University of Poitiers, France, in collaboration with INSERM U1070. His doctoral research focused on colistin modification and the development of adjuvant-loaded lipid nanoparticles to combat β-lactam and colistin resistance in major WHO-priority Gram-negative bacterial pathogens, including Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. His research encompassed antimicrobial activity, mechanisms of action, resistance mitigation, toxicity evaluation, and in vivo efficacy using Galleria mellonella larvae and rodent pulmonary infection models.
He completed his Ph.D. in early 2026. His doctoral research resulted in one peer-reviewed publication, three additional manuscripts in preparation, and a submitted European patent application. During his doctoral training, he also presented his research at five international conferences in the field of antimicrobial research, including meetings held in Vienna, Paris, Bordeaux, and Barcelona.
