Biography

Pratiwi Ridwan obtained her Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Universitas Padjadjaran. She served for three years at community health center in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, where she developed a strong interest in malnutrition and infectious diseases. Afterward she joined Nutrition Working Group at Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Padjadjaran, where she contributed as a research assistant to a randomized feeding trial in Tanjung Sari, Sumedang.

She later received world’s top universities scholarship from Indonesia Endowment for Fund for Education (LPDP) to pursue both her Master’s and PhD degrees at Cornell University, USA, in International Nutrition with minors in Epidemiology and Global Development. During her graduate training, she contributed to multiple evidence synthesis projects in collaboration with World Health Organization. Her research interests focus on micronutrient deficiencies and health outcomes among young children. During her doctoral research, she examined correlates of zinc status and their association with multiple health outcomes including growth, morbidity, and immune parameters among young children in both urban and rural areas of India.
