Biography
In 2016, Alya completed her bachelor’s study in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). During her undergraduate study, she was named the Most Outstanding First Year Student of ITB, runner up of the Most Outstanding Pharmacy Student of ITB, and runner up of the Indonesian Most Outstanding Pharmaceutical Student. Following her pharmacist degree (apt.) in 2018, Alya worked as a Market Access Scientific Associate at AstraZeneca where she was in charge of Cardiovascular and Metabolic (CVRM) products. In this role, she gained experience in reviewing and communicating clinical and pharmacoeconomic studies to maintain product access for the national health coverage.
In 2019 she was awarded Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in Precision Medicine at University College London. Her master’s thesis focused on the use of machine learning in multi-omics data analysis, in which she identified cellular, proteomics, and metabolomics signature of rheumatoid arthritis from real patient data.
During her master’s study, Alya was also actively involved as a communication volunteer for a charity in London, the Evelina Children’s Heart Organization (ECHO), UK. Through this volunteer role, she supported families with congenital heart disease.
