English for Business Purposes Training for Bogor-Based MSMEs: Empowering Local Entrepreneurs Through Practical Business Communication
Jakarta, 13 February 2026 – As part of its ongoing commitment to community empowerment and sustainable economic development, i3L successfully conducted the English for Business Purposes Training for Bogor-based MSMEs on Thursday, 5 February 2026, a community service and CSR initiative aimed at strengthening the business communication skills of local entrepreneurs. The program was designed to address real challenges MSMEs face when engaging with customers, partners, and stakeholders in increasingly global and multicultural business environments.
In today’s digital and interconnected economy, English is no longer a luxury but a practical tool for business growth. Recognizing this need, the training focused on equipping MSME owners with functional English skills applicable to daily business activities, including meetings, presentations, written communication, and pitching.
The English for Business Purposes Training for Bogor-based MSMEs was delivered in a structured, one-day format that combined expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice. The program began with an opening session and an institutional introduction that outlined i3L’s role in supporting local communities through education-driven initiatives. This approach reinforced the institution’s expertise and long-term commitment to knowledge transfer beyond the classroom.
The first main session focused on business communication in a multicultural setting, where participants gained insights into how cultural differences influence communication styles, decision-making, and professional relationships. Through real-world examples, MSME participants learned how to communicate more effectively and respectfully with diverse business partners, an increasingly important skill in both local and international markets.
Public speaking and presentation skills were a key highlight of the training. In the public speaking and presentation in English session, participants were guided through simple and effective techniques to deliver clear messages with confidence. The session emphasized clarity, structure, and audience engagement rather than perfect grammar, making the material accessible to participants with varying levels of English proficiency.
The training continued with a practical session on conducting business meetings in English, where participants were introduced to commonly used expressions for opening meetings, sharing opinions, responding professionally, and concluding discussions. By focusing on real business scenarios, the session helped participants feel more prepared to participate in meetings with clients, suppliers, or potential partners.
Recognizing the importance of written communication in the digital business landscape, the program included a session on business English. Participants learned to write clear, professional emails, inquiries, and follow-up messages. This session addressed common mistakes that can lead to misunderstandings and provided practical templates that MSMEs can directly apply in their daily operations.
By focusing on clarity, tone, and professionalism, the session helped MSMEs build stronger relationships with customers and partners through written communication—an essential component of trust and credibility in business.
One of the most impactful components of the English for Business Purposes Training for Bogor-Based MSMEs was the elevator pitch session and extended practice workshop. Participants learned to introduce their businesses clearly and persuasively within a short timeframe, which is an essential skill for networking events, exhibitions, and potential investment opportunities.
During the practice session, participants actively delivered their elevator pitches and received constructive feedback from experienced trainers. This hands-on approach enabled MSMEs to refine their messaging, build confidence, and immediately apply what they learned during the training.
This community service initiative reflects i3L’s expertise and authority in delivering relevant, industry-aligned education while maintaining a strong connection to societal needs. By combining academic knowledge with practical application, the program ensured that participants gained skills that are not only theoretically sound but also directly useful for business growth.
Overall, the English for Business Purposes Training for Bogor-Based MSMEs successfully enhanced participants’ confidence and readiness to engage in broader business networks. The program strengthened local entrepreneurs’ ability to communicate professionally, compete more effectively, and build sustainable business relationships. Through initiatives like this, i3L continues to play an active role in empowering MSMEs and supporting inclusive economic development in Indonesia.
