Benchmarking Visit on Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) by Universitas Indonesia Maju (UIMA) to Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (i3L)
Thursday, April 17, 2025 — In line with the rapid development and integration of information systems across various aspects of society, higher education institutions are expected to adapt and utilize digital technologies in their learning processes, particularly through the implementation of online learning methods.
In response to this phenomenon, Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (i3L) has long implemented online learning as part of its academic delivery. This experience proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period when face-to-face learning activities were severely restricted. Nevertheless, online learning also presents its own set of challenges, particularly in terms of quality assurance to ensure that the learning process remains effective and of high quality.
As one of the higher education institutions under the coordination of LLDIKTI III with considerable experience in online learning, i3L was honored to host a benchmarking visit from Universitas Indonesia Maju (UIMA) led by Dr. Rindu, SKM, M.Kes., in her capacity as Vice Rector I on Thursday, 17 April 2025.
Carrying the theme “Strengthening the Internal Quality Assurance System to Support High-Quality Online Learning”, the benchmarking visit aimed to share best practices and strategies in the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) and the delivery of quality online learning. The delegation from Universitas Indonesia Maju, accompanied by Prima Satria, S.E. and Syifa Luthfiah Fatimah, S.Pd. as representatives of LLDIKTI Region III, was warmly welcomed by the i3L Rectorate, Dean of School of Life Sciences, and several Heads of Study Program representatives in Room 808, at i3L campus.
In her opening remarks as the Rector of i3L, Katherine, S.T, Ph.D., stated that online learning can provide students with an interactive learning experience through various platforms and information technologies, with the expectation that students will later be able to adapt to future challenges. She also expressed her hope that this benchmarking visit would open opportunities for future collaboration between the two institutions. Representing the Head of LLDIKTI III, Prima Satria, S.E. also delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of SPMI benchmarking activities as one of the key components in the accreditation process for higher education institutions.
The session featured several presentations regarding online learning and internal quality assurance system at i3L, delivered by Elizabeth Sidhartha, B.Sc., M.Sc. (Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs), Rina Nur Chasanah, S.E., M.M. (Quality Assurance), and Dr. Reni Mutiarani Saraswati, B.A.(Hons), M.B.Sys. (Center for Learning Excellence). Several engaging topics were explored, such as methods to ensure that online learning maintains the same level of quality as face-to-face learning, and how online learning can accommodate the diverse learning capabilities of students. The Q&A session followed the presentations, allowing participants to further explore the topics discussed. The visit concluded with a campus tour led by Rio Hermantara, S.Si., M.Biotech., Ph.D., in his capacity as i3L Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, followed by exchange of mementos and group photo session.
This benchmarking visit is expected to further strengthen efforts from both higher education institutions to enhance the ecosystem of high-quality online learning in Indonesia.
