i3L Officially Becomes a University, Celebrates 12th Dies Natalis with Academia, Industry, and Community
Jakarta, May 26, 2026 – i3L University officially transformed into i3L University during its 12th Dies Natalis celebration held on Monday, 25 May at the i3L University campus in Jakarta. Carrying the theme “Shaping the Future Through Collaboration Across Academia, Industry, and Community,” the celebration marked a new milestone in i3L’s journey to expand its contribution to higher education, research, and innovation for society.
The inauguration was marked by a Grand Launching ceremony, symbolizing i3L’s transition from an institute to a university. This milestone also reaffirmed i3L University’s commitment to building an adaptive, innovative, and collaborative educational ecosystem amid increasingly dynamic global developments.
The event was attended by prominent figures from government, industry, and academia, including the Director of Research and Community Service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, Head of Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region III Jakarta Dr. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, Director of Corporate Regulatory, Quality & Manufacturing at PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. Nurul Yusuf, and Head of Strategic Regulatory Business Partner at ParagonCorp Joanny Magdalena. These distinguished guests also delivered congratulatory remarks on i3L’s official transformation into i3L University, recognizing it as a new milestone in the advancement of higher education, research, and innovation in Indonesia.
In her remarks, Katherine, S.T., Ph.D., Rector of i3L University, stated that the transformation is not merely a change in name or institutional status but a strategic step to strengthen the role of higher education in addressing global challenges through cross-sector collaboration.
“The transformation into i3L University is a great responsibility. This change in status expands our vision not only to excel nationally, but also to make significant contributions on the global stage. We aspire for i3L University to be recognized as a center of excellence that is innovative, adaptive, and consistently relevant to the changing times,” she stated.
She also emphasized that collaboration among academia, industry, government, and communities is the primary foundation for developing innovations that have a tangible impact on society.
According to her, partnerships between universities and industry can accelerate the transformation of innovation into real-world solutions while ensuring that educational curricula remain relevant to future industry needs. Meanwhile, synergy with government and communities is considered essential to ensure that research and scientific development can directly contribute to improving the quality of life in society.
This perspective was reinforced by Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, in his keynote speech titled “Impactful Research: Research & Innovation Policy.” He emphasized that innovation is a necessity for universities to ensure their operational processes remain aligned with the rapid pace of global development.
Furthermore, he outlined six crucial aspects within the downstreaming and commercialization ecosystem (ABGCM) required to produce impactful research outcomes: Science, Technology, Innovation, Regulation, Market, and Culture. In this context, i3L University was considered to hold a strategic position as a leader in science, as this is where the answers to the most fundamental questions about the universe begin, the “why”.
The series of events for the 12th Anniversary celebration of i3L University began with a Welcome & Executive Reception, followed by Opening Remarks, the Grand Launching Ceremony, and an Exclusive Networking & Lunch session, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors.
Through this transformational milestone, i3L University reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening collaboration with strategic partners to foster innovation and higher education that are relevant, sustainable, and impactful for Indonesia and the global community.
