The Strategic Partnership of i3L University and PGI: Strengthening Indonesian Education and Community

Jakarta, 04 November 2025This strategic collaboration between PGI (Persekutuan Gereja-gereja di Indonesia) and i3L University marks a significant step in aligning higher education with social impact. The partnership uses the strengths of both institutions to improve education, research, and important community service, especially in Indonesia’s difficult 3T (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped) areas.

Expertise and Authority: The Parties Involved

The agreement is signed by:

  • First Party: i3L University, represented by its Rector, Katherine, S.T., Ph.D., bringing academic and scientific rigor to the partnership.
  • Second Party: PGI (Persekutuan Gereja-gereja di Indonesia), represented by its Chairman, Pdt. Jacklevyn Frits Manuputty, which provides a vast network for social outreach, community engagement, and spiritual formation.

Experience: Core Areas of Collaboration (Tri Dharma)

The MoU focuses on the “Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi” (Three Pillars of Higher Education), ensuring students gain valuable experience while contributing to society.

1. Education and Teaching

The partnership is designed to enhance student competency through:

  • Practical Internships: Facilitating internship placements for i3L students in PGI’s workplaces and service areas.

2. Research and Collaboration

PGI and i3L will pool resources to drive academic advancement:

  • Joint Research Projects: Executing shared research initiatives, including the sharing of facilities and research personnel.
  • Academic Events: Organizing collaborative conferences and seminars for both parties to disseminate knowledge.

3. Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat)

This is perhaps the most impactful area, demonstrating a shared commitment to social good:

  • 3T Economic Empowerment: A central focus is on empowering UMKM (MSMEs) through the PGI’s network, with support from i3L, specifically targeting the most disadvantaged 3T areas in Indonesia.
  • Outreach and Training: Implementation of community programs, including counseling, training, and community empowerment initiatives across various regions.
