Biography

Elizabeth Sidhartha, B.Sc., M.Sc. was awarded the Sembcorp Scholarship for Undergraduates and completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the National University of Singapore, majoring in Life Science and specializing in Biomedical Science. Her bachelor’s thesis focused on elucidating the effects of biomechanical stress on malaria parasites, integrating the fields of engineering and medical sciences. She proceeded to pursue a Master of Science degree at the Department of Ophthalmology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, where she developed a novel scoring system for the risk of angle-closure glaucoma utilizing iris imaging techniques. While doing her master’s study, she also did some epidemiology work examining various eye diseases in a multi-ethnic group population.

Upon obtaining her master’s degree, Elizabeth joined Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology to continue her malaria research, working on natural product-based drug discovery projects. Elizabeth is passionate about applying biomedical sciences to promote advancements in healthcare, and nurturing a future generation of highly capable medical scientists.
