The 3rd graduation of the Indonesian International Institute for Life Sciences Bachelor and Masters program took place solemnly, starting with the singing of the Indonesia Raya anthem by all participants. Different from previous years, the graduation procession which is currently being virtually held by presenting members of the senate at the i3L Auditorium, aims to follow the health protocol set by the government to suppress the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic which continues to increase.
The opening of the graduation ceremony was marked by beating the gong 3 times by Iwan Surjawan S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D. as Rektor of i3L.
Amadeus Yeremia Pribowo, B.Sc., Ph.D. as the Vice Rektor I in his speech, conveyed the i3L thridarma award. “i3L received an increase in accreditation in 2021, which initially received a good category upstage to become very good.”
In addition, Amadeus also explained the preparation of i3L in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. “We have all anticipated, prepared, and implemented plans to deal with the pandemic. One of the anticipations that we are doing is, in February 2020 we will hold a Covid-19 mini-symposium by inviting Prof. Amin Soebandrio and also the faculties at i3L regarding the understanding of covid-19 and also what needs to be prepared when Indonesia has to face a pandemic”.
moreover, i3L also collaborates with the Kalbis Institute in making Vaccine Centers as an effort to establish herd immunity for students and the community.
“The preparation that i3l is doing in dealing with this pandemic is to change the learning process which was originally offline to online, assisted by technology and existing facilities. We also make online learning policies so that teaching activities can be implemented effectively”.
“In this pandemic, we also take the opportunity to increase collaboration with foreign institutions, one of which is the i3L Biotechnology Lecturer who has the opportunity to become a guest lecturer at UCSI Malaysia. We also invite Guest Lecturers from the University of Kentucky, United States of America,” he added.
“We are proud to announce that i3L is included in the top 10 Research and Technology Brin Grants Awardees, and several of our lecturers have received national and international awards from Toray and also industries such as Orang Tua group and BMJ,” said Amadeus.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Agus Setyo Budi, M.Sc. as the Head of the Region III Higher Education Service Institution stated “Currently we must have digital capabilities as a main competency as well as the digital education transformation that has been carried out in the last 20 years, where the current pandemic accelerates the transformation so that universities adopt online learning”.
“Region III Higher Education Service Institutions also immediately assist in accelerating digital transformation through the Merdeka Campus program, where students are allowed to take courses outside of their majors, this can increase students’ digital knowledge,” he said.
“In 2045 Indonesia will continue to develop, therefore, all of us, especially educational institutions, need to adapt and to transform in the education sector. Because the higher education sector is a place to innovate and expand knowledge,” he added.
The i3L graduation procession was attended by 94 graduates, consisting of Masters majors in Bio Management, Bio Entrepreneurship, BioMedicine, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Food Science and Nutrition, Food Technology.
