Leadership Camp is an event held annually by the Learning and Development (LnD) Division of SCi. This year, the event was conducted virtually over the span of three days from June 3 until June 5 with the title “SYNERGY: LEADERSHIP CAMP 2021”. During the first two days of the event, there was a power talk by external speakers, namely Mr. Arief Munandar from Peopleshift.id and Mr. Ali Sahab Amrin from PT. XL Axiata Tbk. On the last day, a student presentation was conducted.

During the first day of the event, Mr. Arief Munandar brought up a topic regarding “Servant Leadership” with the key takeaways being: 1) leadership does not equalize to authority, 2) although being a team leader, respect towards the whole team, system, and time is still the utmost importance, 3) three keys for a good leader includes people, change, and contribution, and lastly 4) as a leader, we should not be satisfied with the current situation or result and should always strive to improve the results better along the time.

On the second day of the event, Mr. Ali Sahab Amrin brought up a talk regarding “Virtual Leadership” with the key takeaways on having a good virtual leadership including 1) understanding diversity, taking responsibility, and having a good and respectful mindset is of importance to nurture relationships, connections, empathy, and trust, 2) the importance of equally communicating and listening to ensure a good discussion throughout, and 3) having decision making and problem-solving skills.

On the last day of leadership camp, there was a case study where the participants were divided into 12 groups, had 15 minutes to discuss the case study, and later on, presented their discussion to all the participants through a chosen spokesperson. Post student presentation, the winner of the presentation was announced based on how the spokesperson elaborated their answers and how close the answers are with the answer sheet. Congratulations to group 10, their answers were spot on!

Thus, not only does this event give a power talk regarding leadership, but also a platform to immediately practically apply the knowledge received. Nonetheless, the event conducted insightful talks with amazing external speakers and also a fun, engaging, case study followed by a student presentation. It is safe to say that the event was an ultimate success, see you at Leadership Camp next year!
