Biography
Dr. Riahna Kembaren received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia, in 2012. During her bachelor’s study, she spent a year at the Czech University of Life Science, Czech Republic, as an Erasmus exchange student in 2011. She received silver medal on National Scientific Week Competition (PIMNAS) PKMP in 2011, and an award as an innovator in 104 innovation of Indonesia program from the Indonesian Research and Technology Ministry in 2012.
After finishing her bachelor’s study, she worked at a multinational company, Godrej Indonesia, for more than three years as Research and Development Executive. She developed the formulation for insecticide products. She also received an award as the Best Trainee in Management Trainee Program, Godrej Indonesia, in 2013.
She obtained her M.Sc. degree in 2017 in Biochemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, funded by the LPDP Scholarship. During her master thesis, she worked on encapsulation of spearmint oil using complex coacervate method
In 2018, she started her Ph.D. on a joint project of Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter Research Group and Biochemistry Laboratory at Wageningen University and Research Center, The Netherlands. She worked on recombinant protein encapsulation using synthetic polymer into complex coacervate core micelles and investigated some strategies (including genetic modification, bioconjugation, and crosslinking) to improve the stability and decrease the exchange dynamic.
