i3L Faculty Workshop: Designing Engaging and Effective Learning for Higher Education
Jakarta, 8th August 2024 – On August 8, 2024, CLE hosted a workshop titled “Designing Engaging and Effective Learning for Higher Education,” aimed at enriching faculty teaching methods. The event, led by Dr. Dicky Susanto, S.T., M.Ed., Ed.D., was attended by 36 faculty members eager to enhance their pedagogical skills and improve the learning experiences for their students.
The workshop, which ran from 08:30 to 16:00, focused on the crucial need for innovative teaching strategies in today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape. Dr. Susanto shared his expertise on designing learning experiences that engage students effectively while fostering a more dynamic, interactive environment in higher education. Throughout the day, the faculty explored various strategies for improving student engagement and optimizing teaching methods to achieve better learning outcomes.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive because of its informative content and seamless organization of the presentation. The interactive nature of the event was particularly well-received, as faculty members could directly connect with the practical ideas presented.The workshop also highlighted the importance of practical and applicable strategies for the classroom.
While the content of the workshop was highly praised, there were also logistical suggestions. Some participants requested more time for the key speaker to delve deeper into certain topics. Others proposed the possibility of organizing shorter, more intensive workshops or even half-day events to better accommodate their schedules. For future workshop topics, several faculty members suggested the role of AI in teaching, particularly how it can be harnessed to improve learning outcomes and foster creativity among students. This knowledge reflects a broader trend in education, where technological advancements are being rapidly incorporated into pedagogical practices.
Overall, the workshop on “Designing Engaging and Effective Learning for Higher Education” was a resounding success, reinforcing the importance of continuous professional development for faculty members. It set the stage for further pedagogical advancements and highlighted the growing interest in integrating technology like AI into teaching. As the i3L community looks ahead, these workshops will continue to play a vital role in ensuring that faculty members remain at the forefront of educational innovation.
