Following Gde Andika’s Bold Path in i3L’s Double Degree Master’s Program. Is It Worth It?

Jakarta, October 15, 2024 – Gde Andika Mahardika Rai, from the 2020 cohort, is pursuing his Master in Biomanagement (MBM) at Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (i3L) in collaboration with College De Paris. With a background in Biotechnology, Andika is now delving into the management side of the life sciences industry, eager to expand his knowledge and make a meaningful impact.

A Personal Drive to Continue Learning

Andika’s decision to pursue his master’s degree at i3L stemmed from his desire to gain a well-rounded education. He appreciated the unique opportunity to begin his master’s studies even before completing his undergraduate degree. This allowed him to deepen his understanding of the management aspect of the life sciences industry, which he sees as crucial for future leaders in this field. His commitment to continuous learning reflects his passion for contributing to the growth of the life sciences sector.

The Value of a Double Degree Program

For Andika, the decision to take on a double degree program was driven by the desire to gain a global perspective. The chance to study abroad at College De Paris not only broadened his academic horizons but also introduced him to different cultures. He views this as an essential experience in today’s increasingly interconnected world, where understanding diverse perspectives is key. “It has been an enriching experience, both academically and personally,” Andika humbly shares, recognizing the significance of this opportunity.

Navigating Different Teaching Approaches

The transition between i3L and College De Paris came with adjustments, but Andika embraced the learning styles of both institutions. While there were differences in teaching methods, he did not find them overwhelming. He acknowledges the smooth adaptation process, particularly in courses like financial management, where his strong foundation helped him excel. This experience taught him to stay open and adaptable in different learning environments.

Overcoming Challenges with Preparation and Confidence

Studying in an international setting can pose challenges, but Andika felt well-prepared, thanks to his time at i3L, where English is the main language of instruction. This gave him the confidence to thrive in the international environment at College De Paris, where English was also widely used in classes and administration. His ability to communicate seamlessly with peers and professors further enriched his study abroad experience. “The habit of speaking and learning in English at i3L made it much easier to adapt,” he reflects, feeling grateful for the preparation that helped him succeed.

Encouraging Future Students to Embrace Global Opportunities

When asked about advice for future students, Andika thoughtfully encourages them to take advantage of programs that offer international exposure. He emphasizes how studying abroad offers not only academic growth but also personal transformation. “Being able to experience different cultures and ways of thinking is a precious opportunity,” he says. “It’s an experience that shapes you in ways that go beyond the classroom.”
