September 2021 marked the beginning of the new academic year 2021-2022. In this fresh start, the Center of Student Development, in collaboration with both internal and external parties, conducted the BRIGHT Session with a variety of entrancing topics. The BRIGHT series started with the Personal Branding session conducted on September 18, 2021, with Bapak Pieter Adrian, Vice President of HR Group – EMTEK as the guest speaker of the session. The discussion was on self-reflection that can lead to the perception or brand that people see us through. As a continuation of the topic of personal branding, Communication Skills was presented by Ibu Diah Fanny, Public Relations Specialist at DANA Indonesia, on November 6, 2021. The session discussed the essential acts on a presentation and how to effectively carry the message of a presentation to the audience as well as how to calm our nerves before presenting.
BRIGHT Sessions were also conducted jointly with the Student Council of i3L (SCi) and student clubs & communities. “Essential Skills for Scientific Academia” (ESFSA) was the first collaborative session with the Learning and Development Division of SCi and i3L Life Science Writing Association (LSWA). The 2-day workshop was conducted on October 1 and 2, 2021, with Pak Slamet Supriadi and Pak Andamar Pradipta as the guest speakers respectively. In this event, the speakers trained the students in basic writing and presenting skills required for scientific purposes. This will be especially beneficial for freshmen to build the foundation of their literacy skills. The Buddhist Community was also organizing the BRIGHT Session “Dhamma Talk Kathina Puja with Bhante Tejavaro” on October 14, 2021. This was a collaborative event between i3L and Kalbis Institute Buddhist communities. On November 13 and 20, 2021, SCi and LSWA collaborated on the “Financial Awareness and Training (FIAT) Community” and hosted the “Adulting 101” session. The session probed the quarter-life crisis issue specifically in the toxicity of hustle culture as well as personal financial management and how to secure the future through self-management skills.
BRIGHT sessions did not only discuss topics that will be useful for students during their study period but also as part of the life-after-graduation preparation. Hence, the Career and Alumni Office invited Ibu Bernadetta Junita Santosa, Head of Recruitment and HRBP for Distribution at PT Lautan Luas, to explain the mechanism of the “Behind the Scenes of Recruitment Process”. In this BRIGHT session, the students were guided to create an outstanding CV and gave insights on how to ace an interview session. To complement the previous session, the Career and Alumni Office, collaborating with the i3L Alumni Association (iLumni), provided the Mentoring Session for the Student Body on November 27, 2021. The guest alumni talked about the broader and deeper understanding of each study program. They also exchanged views on the career prospects for the respective majors that they are graduating from.
Reviewing from the questionnaire and feedback from the participants, the overall evaluation for the BRIGHT sessions indicates a high level of satisfaction.
