Mohamad Yulianto Kurniawan, M.Sc. was born in Pati, Indonesia and moved to Bogor for completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Science at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) with the interest of Body Image and Eating Disorders. Thereafter, he was awarded Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship to continue his Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands with a concentration of Nutritional Physiology and Health Status. He took two master’s theses during his study, which investigated The Effect of Prenatal Iron Supplementation on Hepcidin Status at Delivery in Kenyan Women; as well as investigated how Coffee Consumption is associated with better Cognitive Functioning. Besides that, he actively collaborated as second author with his supervisors to revise a book chapter on Omega-3 fatty Acids and Quality of Life. Outside his expertise, along with The Wageningen Data Competence Center: he explored Business Opportunities of Big Data Applications for Wageningen University and Research: Connecting Expertise to Markets.
Yulianto is passionate about creating better perception of nutrition, be it raising awareness for ideal body image and healthy eating behavior; encouraging supplementation in supporting population, especially pregnant women to deliver healthy children or exploring as well as answering revolutionary research questions through the analysis of Big Data, and generating Big Data in novel ways.
“I believe that “The greatest wealth is Health.” Therefore, investing on better nutrition is vital for good health and longevity to instill in your healthy eating habits from an early age. At I3L, with mainly focus on education and research of food science, will provide an ideal platform to educate and train upcoming generation to take care of their body, where it’s the only place everyone has to live.”
