Student Council of i3L (SCi) is an executive student-governed organization which was established in 2014. We function as the representative of the students of i3L and as a bridge between the students and i3L’s management/programs.
The vision and mission of the student council change every single year. The current vision and mission(s) are:
Student Council of i3L aspires to build a sense of pride in the institute while maintaining kinship within the i3L family and to be a bridge between the students, the institute and society.
The Learning and Development division focuses on enhancing the learning process of the student body. We provide programs and services to encourage both academic and non-academic activities. It includes the initiation of new students into the learning process in i3L and the provision of a platform for students to express their talents by joining clubs and communities that are active in both internal and external events.
Peer Mentoring is a program initiated by Student Council 2016-2017 dedicated to improve and help freshmen in coping with the courses. It is done in the form of group mentoring, planned specifically according to what the student applied for. The program itself opens volunteer positions to become a mentor for the participants; these volunteers are recruited from upper cohorts/seniors.
Though 2020’s Career Week had to be conducted online due to the current situation, we still gain a lot of insights and knowledge from the speakers.
CELL 2019 aimed to aid students with understanding their undergraduate life at i3L and future potential careers they would have after graduation. This event was held on March 29 & 30, 2019. There were 3 main events during CELL 2019: Job Fair, Panel Discussion and Networking Lunch. We invited life-sciences companies and universities to present during the Job Fair on the first day and to speak at the Panel Discussion and attend the Networking Lunch.
Community Outreach (CO) focuses on providing platforms for students to do community services by establishing relationships with various external organizations. i3L students are encouraged to do social work to give back to society and to also shape them into well-rounded adult professionals. This work is usually done through volunteering and charity activities.
Science Tutor Program is i3L’s CSR program that is focused on teaching science to children. This program aims to intrigue children’s thoughts on science and to help the volunteers develop their empathy by sharing their knowledge with others. The Science Tutor Program is done in collaboration with House for Reading and Education (HORE) and RPTRA Beringin. The last HORE sessions were held at Kampung Guji, Kebun Jeruk, and the last RPTRA Beringin sessions were held at RPTRA Beringin in Cempaka Putih. Both collaborative actions may have up to three sessions each month which allows students to practice both theory and experiment.
Movement is an Instagram-based newsletter platform where students can share the latest news revolving i3L and its surroundings. This program is conducted once in every two weeks with three different topics in each volume. The writers of Movement are the students of i3L themselves that are interested in writing news.
The idea of Char3L is to facilitate students to conduct their own charity events. Students are encouraged to submit a charity idea to CO, and the chosen ideas will be realized. Various charity activities have been conducted such as charity program for orphanage, building small library for street children, distributing Braille books, building animal shelters, donation for veterants and many more. Char3L stands for Charity at i3L.
SCi’s Welfare Division is a division which is responsible for planning programs or activities to support the welfare of all i3L family members. Thus, its main goal is to create a student-friendly atmosphere within the campus premises.
SCi’s Business Division is responsible for gathering funding and sponsorship to support all Student Council activities/events. The Business Division is also in charge of creating business plans to promote activities within the Student Council. On top of that, the division also collaborates with other divisions to create budgeting plans to finance other divisions’ activities.
