Dr. Florensia Irena Rameida BR Napitupulu, S.T.P.

Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition

Irena was raised in Medan, North Sumatra. She moved to Bogor in 2010 to pursue higher education and completed her bachelor’s degree in Food Technology at IPB University in 2014. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the same university. In 2015, she was fully funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti RI) to continue her master and doctoral education at IPB University through Master Leading to Doctoral Degree Program of Education for Excellent Graduates or Pendidikan Magister menuju Doktor untuk Sarjana Unggul (PMDSU) scholarship program. Her interest in local spices and functional foods encouraged her to continue her undergraduate study on an exotic spice from her hometown named ‘andaliman’ (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.). She completed her doctoral study in 2020 with a dissertation entitled “Potency of Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) Fruits as a Colon Cancer Inhibitor”. During her doctoral program, she also got an opportunity to experience an exchange program at Hokkaido University (Japan) (2016). She was also a visiting PhD student in the Food Science department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) (2018-2019). Currently, she is one of the faculty members in Food Science and Nutrition at i3L, Jakarta.
