Biography

apt. Pietradewi Hartrianti, M.Farm., Ph.D. is the current appointed Dean of School of Life Sciences after completing her assignment as the Head of Research and Community Service of i3L. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s studies at the University of Indonesia majoring in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences. Following the completion of her master’s study, she pursued her postgraduate study at Nanyang Technological University, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Singapore, specializing in biomaterials and tissue engineering. Her research during her bachelor and master’s years focused on the area of drug delivery, specifically transdermal and buccal delivery of conventional and/or protein drugs. Meanwhile, her Ph.D. research focused on the utilization of human hair keratin as alternative bioinert materials for several biomedical purposes such as tissue engineering, wound healing, and/or drug delivery. She also owned a shared US patent for her work in crosslinked human hair keratin and has published research articles related to this work. She has received multiple grants from the government and private institutions, such as the Science and Technology Research Grant from the Toray Science Foundation as well as the National Competitive Research Grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia (previously Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education) regarding her works in biomaterials. Dr. Hartrianti also has received second place in the 2021 Merck Young Scientist Award Indonesia regarding her works in the 3D printing of biomaterial for tissue engineering and drug discovery purposes.

Dr. Hartrianti’s research expertise and interest revolve around the topic of natural and biodegradable materials utilization for tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, cosmetics, drug discovery, and drug delivery purposes. She is very passionate about teaching and helping students develop their own analytical and critical thinking, hence they can develop their own innovative idea and problem-solving capacity.
