dr. Istiqomah graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2010. During her medical study, she actively engaged in research activity as she joined surveillance project held by Ophthalmology Department, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada/RSUP DR Sardjito as a research assistant.
After completing her medical degree, dr. Isti served as an internship doctor in a primary healthcare facility in Pacitan. She has 3 years clinical experience as a general practitioner in various healthcare facilities in Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur, exposing her to the real health problems in community. Her Interest in Biomedical Science leads her to take master degree in Biomedical Science (Infectious Disease), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and successfully completing the study in 2 years before joining i3L in November 2016.
Dr. Isti is particularly interested in vaccine development mainly using recombinant DNA technology. Her master thesis focused on cloning of a viral gene into expression strain of E. coli for influenza vaccine development. She believes that progression in biomedical research will strive better quality of healthcare and finally give benefit to the society.
